Story: Volcanic Plateau places



This rather foreshortened panorama of Lake Taupō by William George Baker shows the kāinga of Nukuhau, at the outlet of the Waikato River. The central volcanoes are in the distance – both Mt Ruapehu (left) and a conveniently smoking Ngāuruhoe.
