1935 election results

Results from the 1935 election were posted outside the Manawatu Standard office. For the first time New Zealand had a Labour government. Labour also won the Palmerston North seat for the first time, with Joe Hodgens narrowly winning a three-way contest. ‘Licensing’ refers to the vote on whether the sale of liquor should be prohibited, controlled by the state, or kept as it was.
