The government crackdown on comics in the early 1950s largely destroyed the country's small comics publishing industry. Comic artists continued to draw and write, but under the radar and often in the university student scene. Under the name Flerman Bulwool, Bob Brockie contributed Classics illiterated, a parody of the Classics illustrated series, to Victoria University's capping magazine Cappicade in 1958. His Mowgli Dick strip was an oddball New Zealand version of the classic novel Moby Dick. Use the slider to zoom in on the image.
