Ross Digby Gore's A woman conquers Mt Cook, 1957

In the 1940s and 1950s Ross Digby Gore drew a series of comics that recounted episodes from New Zealand history. This strip charts Australian woman Freda Du Faur's historic and controversial ascent of Aoraki/Mt Cook in 1910. She was the first woman to climb the mountain.
