This poster produced by the State Services Commission in 2011 shows the chief executives of 32 government ministries and departments. Only three are women: Katrina Bach (Department of Building and Housing), Karen Sewell (Ministry of Education) and Rowena Phair (Ministry of Women's Affairs). The first woman chief executive in New Zealand’s public service was Mary O’Regan, who became chief executive of the new Ministry of Women’s Affairs in 1984.
