Kōrero: Taranaki region

‘The garden of New Zealand’

The free-draining, fertile soils of Taranaki have been known for centuries for their crop-growing properties. This leaflet was distributed to the visitors to the Taranaki exhibit in the 1906–07 New Zealand International Exhibition in Christchurch. It was produced by the Taranaki Provincial Committee and extols the region as ‘the garden of New Zealand’, along with its other climatic, commercial and cultural features.
