Video file

The Tourist Hotel Corporation was established in 1955 to manage and run the government's hotels. The corporation's function was to encourage the development of hotel tourism in New Zealand. It was specifically aimed at international tourists, as few domestic tourists stayed in hotels. In 1990 the government sold the Tourist Hotel Corporation to the US-based South Pacific Hotels Corporation.
