Aoraki/Mt Cook avalanche

In December 1991 the mountaineer Rob Hall was on Aoraki/Mt Cook, about to begin a climb to the summit, when a massive rock avalanche knocked off the top of the mountain. In this news clip, he describes the experience. Rob Hall died on Mt Everest in 1996.
