Water slide, Waiwera

Water slide, Waiwera

Since the 1970s many thermal resorts have been upgraded to make them safer and more attractive to tourists and holidaymakers. At Waiwera Infinity Thermal Spa Resort, north of Auckland, water slides were much enjoyed by children. Now that untreated geothermal water is not used in such pools, there is no danger of contracting amoebic meningitis. In natural geothermal pools, however, people are warned not to dive in or put their heads under water.
