Crown Lynn dinner set

Crown Lynn dinner set

This set was made by New Zealand’s most prolific whiteware producers, Crown Lynn of Auckland. The decorative motifs, such as ‘Green Bamboo’ shown here, reflected an international rather than a New Zealand influence. During the 1960s the company grew to be the largest pottery in the southern hemisphere, protected from overseas competition by import licensing. Crown Lynn closed in 1989, but avid collectors still scour second-hand shops for original pieces.
