Christine Cole Catley with Indonesia’s President Sukarno. Christine operated an office of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Jakarta while the Coles lived in Indonesia from 1956 to 1958. One of the few female journalists then working in the country, Christine enjoyed a warm relationship with Sukarno. The pair sang together publicly at a number of social occasions.
