The Cook Strait ferry operators rang the changes in 2015. Interislander replaced the elderly Arahura with the chartered Kaiarahi, and Strait Shipping bought the 21,856-ton Strait Feronia. Rail ferries once ruled the Strait, but now only the Aratere carries Kiwi Rail’s wagons.
