Policing the hunt

Policing the hunt

Two Fish and Game rangers (left) speak to a couple of Gisborne hunters at the start of the game bird season in 2015. The rangers were on the lookout for offences against the rules, such as hunting without a game-bird licence or possession of outlawed lead shot. Hunters who flout the rule can face court appearances, fines and forfeiting of their firearms.
