The Big Day Out was an established Australian music festival when it first came to New Zealand in 1994. It continued annually until 2012, but a one-off reappearance in 2014 was followed by an indefinite cancellation. The festival attracted a line-up of international acts including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson and Arcade Fire. This photograph shows the Boiler Room, a tent where DJs like the Chemical Brothers played until curfew.
