Canterbury College School of Art, 1907 (2 o 5)

Canterbury College School of Art, 1907

A 1907 class, at what was then known as the Canterbury College School of Art (later part of the University of Canterbury), is shown painting outdoors near Hoon Hay and the Cracroft Bridge. The high number of women involved was typical of daytime art classes – men were more likely to go to evening classes.
