Lomak keyboard

Lomak keyboard

This light-operated mouse and keyboard was invented by an Auckland electrician, Mike Watling. It was designed to allow physically disabled people to use a keyboard more easily. Industrial Research Limited (IRL), a Crown research institute, provided technical expertise for the development which went into commercial production in 2006.  IRL was transformed into a stand-alone Crown entity, Callaghan Innovation, to commercialise research and technology in 2013.
