Telecom Building, Wellington

Telecom Building, Wellington

Designed by Athfield Architects and opened in 1988, Wellington's Telecom Building exemplified the postmodern style. It featured a ziggurat-like (stepped) facade, green tiled walls and rooftop pillars topped by a balustrade – an allusion to classical architecture. It also included some apartments, signalling a return to inner-city living.
