Tawa College, Stage Challenge, 2013

Stage Challenge is an annual group-performance competition for secondary-school students. For many participants it is a highlight of the school year, and much time and effort is put into devising, preparing and rehearsing their performances, which are set to music and must be under eight minutes long. In 2013 Tawa College performed a piece called 'The Doors of Opportunity' about the paths people take in life after they leave school. In the first night of the Wellington regional competition they won the Award of Excellence for Health, Life Skills and Creative Thinking. They shared the Award of Excellence for Set, Design and Function. This is the choreographer, 17-year-old Robyn Bryant, leading the jazz section of the performance.
