Kōrero: Plays and playwrights

Red Mole, 1989

Red Mole, 1989

Alan Brunton, a founder of the experimental theatre troupe Red Mole, plays New Zealand's first Labour prime minister, Michael Joseph Savage, in his own 1989 play Comrade Savage. Red Mole's surreal cabaret-style productions relied on singing, dance, live music and startling costumes for much of their dramatic impact.
