Kōrero: Folk, country and blues music

Marg Layton

Marg Layton

Marg Layton is shown performing around 1981. Layton began her career in the folk scene of the late 1960s. After travelling through Europe and the US in the early 1980s, she returned to New Zealand, having developed a deep feeling for blues music. The blues became Layton's principal musical style, although she continued to perform jazz and folk numbers. From the 1980s to the 2010s she remained one of New Zealand's foremost blues artists.
