Kōrero: Digital media and the internet

The New Zealand Herald website is one of New Zealanders' major sources of news. It has become more popular than the printed newspaper, because it is free, instantly accessible and allows readers to keep up with the very latest news. This is the homepage for 29 January 2014. A column headed 'Latest' reported on stories that had been released over the previous hour. The arrangement by sections also allowed users to very quickly find the stories which interested them. The site included video clips and a ranking of stories by user-popularity, functions which were clearly not possible in a print publication.
