Some public libraries maintain publicly accessible archives. Local historians (from left) Cecily Harper, Mary Bingham and June Taylor are poring over copies of the Northcote Athenaeum Meteor, an early 20th-century magazine published by the Northcote Athenaeum Society and held at the Takapuna Library. They were researching the history of girl guides and boy scouts on the North Shore.
