Doc Mayhew and Jonah Lomu

John 'Doc' Mayhew (centre) is shown here with former All Black Jonah Lomu (left) after the Martin Johnson testimonial match at Twickenham, London, on 4 June 2005. Mayhew was team doctor for the All Blacks from 1988 to 2004, a period that spanned rugby's transition from an amateur to a professional sport. In 2013 Mayhew had a sports medicine practice in Auckland and was team doctor for the New Zealand Warriors rugby league team.
