The Highlands Motorsport Park, near Cromwell in Central Otago, opened on 30 March 2013. It featured an international-standard circuit of 4.5 kilometres with three tracks, a go-kart track, a motor sport museum and a restaurant. The development cost $20 million and joined six other high-quality motor-racing circuits in New Zealand.
