This sculpture of two netballers stands at the entrance to the Invercargill airport. It expresses the pride of the Southland community in the achievement of the Southern Sting netball team. In the 10 years of the national competition for New Zealand netball supremacy, which began in 1998, the Southern Sting won seven titles and were runners-up on the remaining three occasions.
