Kōrero: Tea, coffee and soft drinks

The dash to the railway-station refreshment counter for a cup of tea was a integral part of a long-haul journey by train in the 1950s. These chaps, shown in 1953, were members of the Otago rugby team and were enjoying a cup of tea at Dunedin railway station before heading north on tour. The cups were manufactured by New Zealand company Crown Lynn in vast quantities, in part because rail patrons liked to throw them out the train windows. In the 2000s they were highly collectible.
