Trying out new Christmas presents, 1972

Many people, particularly children, roller skate for recreation, rather than as a formal sport. In 1972 these children – Teresa (eight) and Andrea Fitzgerald (seven), and Lee Anne Harris of Pine Hill, Dunedin – all got roller skates for Christmas. Here they are trying out their new wheels on the footpath.
