Children and adults queue for the matinee session at the Lido Cinema, on Willis Street in Wellington, on 10 May 1980. Although the photo shows a weekday session during the school holidays, matinee sessions were also held on Saturdays throughout the year. On weekends matinees were generally aimed at the young, while films shown in the evenings catered for a more mature audience.
