Kevin Herlihy played for New Zealand from the 1960s until 1984 and was one of the best right-handed pitchers in softball history. He played in his first International Softball Federation World Championship in 1966, and was a member of the team that shared world championship honours with Canada and the USA in 1976. In 1984, with Herlihy as captain, the Black Sox won the world championship in Michigan.
