Alf Jenkins, fitness advocate, sports promoter and gym proprietor, coached the Jenkins Gym men's and women's softball teams. He also captained the men's team, which in 1940 won the inaugural national inter-club championship, the John Lennon Trophy. The Jenkins Gym women's team won the inter-club title in 1947.
