Henry Gifford (Giff) Vivian

Giff Vivian was only 18 when he played his first test against England at the Oval in 1931. A talented left-handed all-rounder from Auckland, he played seven tests for New Zealand. He had a test batting average of 42.1 and he also took 17 wickets at 37.23.  During the 1937 tour of England, he opened the innings in the three tests and reached 50 three times. On both his tours of England (in 1931 and 1937) he scored over 1,000 runs.
