Stan Lay, Empire Games veteran

At the age of 44, javelin thrower Stan Lay represented New Zealand at the 1950 Auckland British Empire Games. He had previously represented New Zealand at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Lay won a gold medal at the Empire Games in Ontario in 1930 and a silver medal at the 1938 Empire Games at Sydney. At Auckland the veteran athlete finished sixth.
