Expedition fundraising, 1956

The Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1955–58 was supported by the New Zealand government. Funds were also raised in the community, co-ordinated by the Ross Sea Committee (set up for the purpose). In this 1956 photograph F. S. Hanger is giving out certificates to children at Dunedin's George St Normal School, who had contributed £10 3s. 2d.
