New Zealand cows in Ceylon, 1965

New Zealand's aid to Asian countries was relatively modest, mostly made under the Colombo Plan agreement of 1950 in areas where New Zealanders had particular expertise. In 1965 New Zealand gifted a herd of Jersey cows to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) to help stimulate the dairy industry there. This train is taking the cows to Ambewela Farm.
