First privacy commissioner, 2001

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner investigates complaints about breaches of privacy in New Zealand, monitors relevant government legislation and policy, and promotes public understanding of privacy issues. The first privacy commissioner, Bruce Slane, is shown in 2001 with privacy hotline telephone staff Fred Henderson (left) and Terry Debenham (right). In 2011 the privacy commissioner was Marie Shroff.
