Requests to review Official Information Act responses, 2000–16

If a person is unhappy with the response to their Official Information Act inquiry, they can ask the Office of the Ombudsmen to review it. This graph shows the number of times this happened from 2000 to 2016.

The sharp spike in 2013 was created by a single complainant objecting to delays by various school Boards of Trustees in responding to their request for information. This individual generated nearly half of the 2,374 complaints received by the ombudsman in that financial year.
