
New Zealand Prime Minister Peter Fraser (standing, at rear) chaired this 1945 meeting of the San Francisco Conference, which brought together representatives of 50 countries to draw up the United Nations Charter. This meeting is discussing the trusteeship system for overseeing the decolonisation of territories governed by imperial powers – including Western Samoa, then effectively a colony of New Zealand.
