Apple growers protested outside the Australian High Commission in 2005 over that country's exclusion of New Zealand apples since 1921. In late 2008 New Zealand asked the WTO to investigate Australia's refusal to allow in New Zealand apples. In 2010 the case was won, but was appealed by Australia. In 2011, having lost its appeal, Australia agreed to allow imports of New Zealand apples.
