
The first committee of the Ranfurly Club in Masterton included Helen Garden Moore (far left), Hannah Vallance (front row, left) and Alice Hosking (centre). The Ranfurly Club was one of a number of clubs for women of high social standing that emerged from the 1890s. One of their purposes was to provide women with social and intellectual companionship.
