New mothers' support group

New mothers' support group

Georgia Williams (left) and Sarah Dunn were two members of a West Auckland new mothers' group which got together each Thursday in 2010 and 2011. They had met at ante-natal classes and kept in touch through email and a Facebook group. Members took turns to host the gathering, which could be coffee and cake at a house, a walk around a park, a swim at a pool, or a 'babes in arms' movie. The support of the group was of immeasurable importance to the women as they faced the first challenges of parenthood; as one member said, 'You cannot place a value on the laughs, the tears and the support we give one another. I am so grateful to be sharing this journey.'
