Girl Guides marching

Girl Guides marching

Girl Guides march at the Basin Reserve, Wellington, during the visit of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell in 1931. The Guides are hardly visible behind the sea of Union Jack flags. Baden-Powell visited New Zealand in 1912, 1931 and 1935, accompanied by his wife on the last two occasions. Many official events were held and the attendance at them, and the patriotic fervour they engendered, was surpassed only by royal visits.
