Bramwell Cook, a prominent New Zealand medical missionary, operates on a patient at the Salvation Army’s Emery Hospital, in Anand, Gujarat, India, where he served as chief medical officer. Assisting him is Dr Indira Londhie. In 1954 Cook was appointed chief secretary (second in command) of the Salvation Army in New Zealand. He later headed the Army's Australian Eastern Territory, which included Papua New Guinea.
