Fly-fishing guide Tony Entwistle fishes for brown trout in a remote stream in Kahurangi National Park. The rivers of the Nelson region offer some of the best back-country brown trout fishing in the world. Water temperatures are in the ideal range for brown trout growth, and in the largely unmodified catchments the water is very clear, creating ideal habitats for mayflies, stoneflies and caddisflies – trout food.
