Baptist church fair, Wellington

Baptist church fair, Wellington

Women Baptists stand in front of their stalls at a church fair in Wellington in 1903. The fair was held at the same time as the annual Assembly of the Baptist Church, which on this occasion gave formal approval to the establishment of the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. In most Protestant churches women played a highly significant role. They dominated church attendance and were prominent in activities such as fund-raising.
