Rock and hammer

Rock and hammer

Hemant Kunmar, owner of the Dissmeyer Super Discounters superette in Ōtara, Auckland, tosses a rock and holds a hammer that he keeps in his shop to fight robbers off. In March 2009 police arrested a 13-year-old girl who stole nappies, milk and biscuits from the store. Superette and dairy owners not only have to work long hours, they also have to watch customers to make sure that they don't shoplift, and they run the risk of being robbed.
