Restored villa, Freemans Bay

Restored villa, Freemans Bay

Freemans Bay, overlooking Auckland Harbour, was the poorest part of Auckland in the early 20th century. A century later the houses that have survived from those days have been restored and renovated, and the area is now one of the most expensive in New Zealand. This is due partly to its central location but also to the historic character of the neighbourhood.
