St Lukes shopping mall, 1971

This is St Lukes shopping mall in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham, soon after it opened in 1971. It has since grown much larger and in 2008 its owners proposed to double its size again. Large suburban malls have dramatically changed the shopping patterns of New Zealanders, and are often used for other social activities as well.
