Getting workers

Getting workers

The Auckland Chamber of Commerce helps businesses find workers and immigrants find jobs. Shown here are fencing contractor Tony Callis and engineer Linda Kong in 2005. It was Kong’s first day on the job, after a decade at home raising children after arriving in New Zealand. An unsuccessful and dispiriting search for work ended when she became part of the chamber’s work experience programme. For Callis, the programme ended a lengthy search for an assistant engineer.
