Hastings from above, around 1960s

Hastings was laid out in a grid pattern intersected by a major railway line, which runs through the city centre. The pastoral and horticultural industries, which are a key part of the city’s economy and identity, are represented by the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society showgrounds and the Wattie’s factory. The Hawke’s Bay Racing Centre is visible at the top of the photograph.

Does anyone remember me Gammersway ( not sure of spelling) He was journalist for hawkes bay racing around 1960s he used to take me to his wife and shed make scones. I was helping out Old Mr Jimmy Paul in those days, a trainer at hastings

Hi Bill - I double-checked on Google Earth and it is definitely Hastings. It is looking from the North East - the race track is actually on the other side - you can see it in the distance on the right. Regards, Jamie Mackay

I would doubt this is Hastings. The race course is wrong. What is The track in the foreground. It is identified as the A & P society but no large roads correspond.
