Mangaweka viaduct under construction

The Mangaweka viaduct was built just north of Mangaweka in 1903–4. At 288 metres in length, it was the longest viaduct on the main trunk line. However in 1981 when the 7-kilometre Mangaweka deviation was constructed, the viaduct was dismantled.
